Join the AIA Kansas City Young Architects Forum (YAF) and the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) for the next stop in the 2026 YAF: Site Series - a site walk of the new Johnson County Health Services Building under construction in Olathe. 

This $90 million, 140,000 SF facility is designed by Finkle + Williams Architecture and Perkins & Will, and constructed by McCownGordon. When complete, it will consolidate Johnson County Mental Health, Health and Environment, and Aging and Human Services under one roof on the county's Sunset Drive campus. The design prioritizes health and wellbeing through biophilic design, abundant natural light with exterior shading, healthy and low-VOC materials, and site connections to the existing trail network. The building is also future-proofed for rooftop solar and designed with architectural and structural modularity to accommodate evolving service needs.

Participants will get a firsthand look at the project mid-construction alongside representatives from the design and construction team. A great opportunity to see how a large-scale civic project comes together - and a few AXP hours don't hurt either! 

The session will conclude with a happy hour nearby, offering time to connect with peers and industry professionals. Happy hour sponsored by McCownGordon Construction.

Registration & Requirements
Attendance is limited to 25 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. All attendees must wear closed-toe shoes, safety glasses, high-vis vest, and a hard hat. If you do not have PPE, please contact Jake or Sabrina before the event so we can help source what you need.
