Program Coordinator

The KCDC is looking for a skilled Program Coordinator to join its team. This position primarily collaborates with KCDC’s teaching staff and academic leadership to manage program and project administration. The person who will excel in this position will be a team player that is comfortable working in a vibrant learning environment where no two days are the same and must be self-reliant and a quick learner in performing the job tasks. Depending on applicant skills and abilities, opportunity for position advancement is available.

Located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, the Kansas City Design Center (KCDC) is a nationally-recognized, 501c3 nonprofit, partnership between the architecture and planning programs at Kansas State University, local civic leaders, and professional designers. KCDC aims to improve the public realm by addressing critical urban design issues while providing graduate students a unique educational experience. Tasks & Duties

Administration:
- Manage general office administration and maintenance tasks: manage office equipment and supplies, handle IT issues as they arise, answer phone, handle incoming/outgoing mail, and coordinate with maintenance and property management team as needed
- Monitor program/project budgets and work with company accountant to coordinate monthly bookkeeping
Assist with grant/funding acquisition and maintenance, including the submission of progress reports and deliverables
- Assist with Board of Directors and Advisory Council governance: scheduling and preparation of meetings as well as taking meeting minutes
- Draft monthly and bi-annual reports to be sent to the KCDC Board of Directors and Advisory Council

Project Coordination:
- Manage public outreach and community engagement: lead the creation and continuous publication of the KCDC digital newsletter and maintenance of PR communication with various supporting constituencies
- Assist with project scheduling and timeline management, including coordinating communication with project advisory group and project stakeholders
- Manage and administer KCDC’s website and various social media platforms
- Develop and manage KCDC program digital and print information and public event promotion communications
- Manage post studio project completion follow through: project results communication, awards submissions, and project publications
- Assist with student recruitment events and activities
- Assist with knowledge transfer: manage KCDC server data base [project archives, reference documents, folder organization] and be able to assist incoming students with understanding and accessing the G-Drive server.
- Assist with building and maintaining collaboration with local organizations and coordinate potential program expansion opportunities
- Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree; preference given to candidates with degrees related to architecture, design, marketing, and/or communications.
- Proven self-starter with an ability to be self-reliant and a constructive collaborator
- Savvy communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Good understanding of and/or interest in KCDC’s academic mission and community relations
- Good word processing and graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

Time Requirements & Compensation:
This is a full-time, salaried position; 40 hours per week. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with occasional early morning and/or evening hours.
Salary starts at 55k/annually and is dependent on applicant skills and abilities

Marketing Lead

Position Description and Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Marketing Lead sitting in our Kansas City office supporting KC and Lawrence, KS marketing pursuits. Our Kansas City office is a dynamic 70-person studio working on architecture, interiors, and city design projects throughout the Midwest region and beyond. 

This position will be responsible for the writing and production of proposals and other marketing materials, and the collection and organization of related project information. The ideal candidate will lead strategy sessions with principals and the project team to develop themes, benefit statements, and production logistics for proposals and qualification packages. Other responsibilities include developing collateral, coordinating information needs with consultants, coordinating professional photography, and assisting with interview preparation. You will develop and update marketing collateral. This includes marketing data like project sheets, staff resumes, etc., and client/project database maintenance and analytics. You’ll also support and assist with our communication/PR initiatives, including social media and website updates.

We seek a committed, self-structured individual who thinks proactively and thrives on independent problem-solving. Qualified applicants must have 8+ years of experience in related deadline-driven positions that require excellent writing skills.
