When disaster strikes how will you help?
One of the first steps after a disaster is to determine whether buildings are safe for habitability. Gaining your SAP/KAT will help you become one of these in-demand volunteers

Join Stan Peterson, FAIA as he provides Safety Assessment Program (SAP) training to architects, engineers, building officials and inspectors to become certified to evaluate facilities, buildings and infrastructure in the aftermath of a disastrous event.

SAP is a technical training program provided through Cal OES that includes Applied Technology Council ATC-20 Post-earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings and ATC-45 Safety Evaluation of Buildings after Wind Storms and Floods. 

After the training is complete, you will also be Kansas Assessment Team (KAT) certified with the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. This means that you will not only be able to assist with national disasters, but you will also be able to help in your local community.

Re-certification is required every two years in order to maintain active volunteer status, which allows access to disaster areas.
