Are you a student thinking about a career as an architect? If so, join us for an opportunity to get academic and career advice from a panel of architects from The American Institute of Architects Kansas City. During this interactive Q&A session, students will have the chance to ask questions about coursework, internships, college and certificate programs, and anything else about becoming a successful architect!
Parents, teachers, and mentors are also encouraged to participate.
Speakers Include:
Tayvia Navy, Associate AIA
Tayvia Navy received her masters in architecture and specializes in interiors. She now works as an interior designer for Multistudio. She received her masters from Kansas State University in 2020. She attended the UMKC program (2 years at UMKC and 3 at Kansas State University). She spent her 4th year spring semester and 5th year in the Kansas City Design Center program. She has experience in Architecture, Urban Planning and Interior Design. She has also focused on graphic design at her firm helping with client presentations, renderings, and any visual aspects that help the client understand the ideas they want to portray.
Jaasiel Duarte-Terrazas, Associate AIA
Jaasiel Duarte-Terrazas, Associate AIA, is a designer with growing experience in detail-rich environments, adaptive reuse, residential, and commercial spaces. Jaasiel is interested in the poetic link between art, architecture, and construction. He is an avid visual artist and sketcher, developing representational techniques to better understand architectural space and the feelings derived from them.
Jaasiel received a Master of Architecture from the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign) at Kansas State University. Since then, he has been a guest critic at Kansas State University and Louisiana Tech University. He developed editorial skills as an editor for the 42nd volume of Oz Journal, Kansas State University’s preeminent architecture magazine.
