MARC: Sustainable Success Stories

On Dec. 15, the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) will honor six local partners at the 2017 Sustainable Success Stories program. Since 2008, MARC has recognized 79 sustainable success stories as models for the region in diverse fields of practice — from urban agriculture to green buildings, green infrastructure to complete streets, material reuse to workforce development. This year, the program will look both backward and forward regarding the region’s progress toward sustainability, Six past honorees were selected to share how their projects progressed, highlight lessons learned over time and explore how past successes inform future efforts and opportunities.

The recognition event takes place from 8:30–10:30 a.m. at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, located at 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Brief presentations on each project wiil be followed with time for discussion.

  • Common Ground — Lawrence, Kansas
  • Connecting for Good — Kansas City, Missouri
  • Grown in Ivanhoe — Kansas City, Missouri
  • Johnson County Community College — Overland Park, Kansas
  • Shawnee Mission School District — Kansas
