Designed WITH Disability

2:00 PM
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art | 4525 Oak Street Kansas City, MO 64111 Map

A panel of designers each present a short story highlighting the power of design WITH disability—rather than for disability—and with the mantra “nothing about us without us” evidenced in their process. Panelists include:

Anaiss A., teen design consultant for Make Just Right youth design consultancy

Ashley Shew, assistant professor, science, technology and society, Virginia Tech University

Peter Sloan, director of interior design, HOK global design, architecture and engineering

After individual stories, the panelists engage in a conversation moderated by disability activist Madison Zalopany, the museum’s manager, community and access programs.
