School's IN for the summer! Join us for a special virtual session of Design U., Tapping into the Power of Your Presence on July 23This session is specifically designed for early professionals who are taking on, or will soon take on, a project or team leadership role. One of the challenges early professionals face is building and maintaining their credibility when they are the youngest person on the jobsite or in the board room.  Come learn from our panelists as they coach you with key concepts and strategies to build your competence and your confidence as you tap into the power of your unique presence!

Meet Our Panelists:

Nick Lawler, AIA, is a Vice President and project manager at Hoefer Wysocki. Across his 15 year career, he has worked on various project types including federal government, justice, higher education, commercial office, and healthcare. He is also currently serving as a Director on the AIA Kansas City Board of Directors. He is passionate about mentorship within the architecture community and strives to listen and learn each and every day.

Samantha McCloud, AIA, NCARB, is a licensed architect and the Director of Community Involvement, Diversity & Inclusion at design firm GastingerWalker. Her responsibilities include research, engagement, and providing thought leadership to integrate inclusive-practice into design, project management, business development, public relations, firm culture and human resources. Her design portfolio includes cinemas, convention centers, higher education, multi-family and office projects nationwide. Samantha is passionate about building community within and outside her company. She is the co-founder of AIA Kansas City’s Equity in Architecture and an active member of the Diversity & Inclusion Consortium. Samantha speaks regularly to local, regional, and national audiences on architecture and inclusion. Samantha received her Master of Architecture from Kansas State University.

Ashley Sadowski, AIA, is a licensed architect who has managed and designed a diverse portfolio of projects including affordable housing, higher education, hospitality, urban infill, and healthcare.  Currently pursuing a Master in Urban Planning from University of Southern California, Ashley also has a background in community development and currently serves on Kansas City Missouri's City Planning Commission.  She is passionate about the intersection of design and social justice and its ability to evolve the built environment.

Steven Patterson is the Talent and Learning Manager, Associate at Populous, Kansas City’s largest architecture firm.  In his role, Steven designs, develops, curates, and facilitates learning content for Populous’ 500+ U.S. based employees.  His role allows him to drive the ongoing learning and development of the staff while impacting the firm’s culture through a steadfast focus on employee engagement, team dynamics, coaching, and feedback.  Steven is passionate about helping people develop their personal brand and present a professional and confident presence when engaging with all levels of leadership.  He is excited to partner with the dynamic professionals who make up the panel.
