The Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) supports and maintains a secure and resilient platform for the U.S. government’s diplomatic missions overseas. This portfolio includes over 80 million square feet of owned and leased office and residential property. The Bureau has a robust design and construction program and works with leading American architects and construction contractors to design and build U.S. embassies around the world.

The program has nearly $20 Billion currently under construction at over 80 active construction sites.

OBO’s leadership will present the progression of U.S. Embassy design throughout history, the current focus and priorities of the organization, opportunities for American architects, engineers and general contractors to engage and the impact of this important work around the world.

All architecture, engineering, contracting, and related firms interested in civil and institutional work are encouraged to attend. We welcome all variety of size and experience.
