Join 3 Axis for this presentation on digital fabrication.

The use of digitally controlled tools to create unique forms and shapes has become widespread in recent years. The use of CNC machines to produce intricate architectural elements has become attainable for projects large and small.

We’ll start with an overview of the different types of CNC machines (lasers, waterjets, routers, mills, 3D printers) and how they are used most effectively.

Covered next will be essential questions to ask so you can find a digital fabricator for your project and ensure a successful collaboration.

Finally, there will be examples of how to generate both 2D and 3D digital artwork to achieve your design intent.

This program with be worth 1 LU and lunch will be provided.

Join AIA and IES for this program on lighting for healthcare.

We will discuss trends in the healthcare market with regard to general trends and construction with an emphasis on lighting. Presentation includes discussion of light and color rendering as it relates to task and aesthetics in healthcare applications. Circadian rhythms, daylighting, lighting for healing (light therapy) and the physiological aspects of light for healthcare will be included. In addition, lighting for the various spaces and new technologies being incorporated in healthcare facilities will be highlighted (ex: NICU, patient rooms, corridors.) Learning Objectives for this course: Attendees will gain basic knowledge needed to:
• Identify and discuss current trends in the general construction and lighting of Healthcare Facilities
• Recognize issues involved in designing lighting for treatment specific (and non-specific) areas of healthcare facilities.
• Recognize how human physiology and wellness is affected by lighting

Join Tom Gant with ClarkDietrich™ Building Systems for this session on steel stud products.

Having problems understanding equivalent “EQ” metal framing and how it compares with traditional metal framing? Are you receiving the correct, properly tested material on your projects? Since their introduction over 5 years ago much has been done to develop standardized requirements for “EQ” metal framing products. This presentation will address both questions as well as outline the ASTM standards that govern the specification and performance requirements of the products. The course will review the purpose and contents of an evaluation report and conclude with an analysis of how “EQ” studs are listed in fire-rated assemblies.

Learning Objectives:

• Evaluate and compare alternative steel stud products to traditional steel studs
• Identify the ASTM standards that govern the material, manufacturing and performance requirements of alternative studs
• Identify cold-formed steel framing members that meet acceptance criteria through evaluation reports
• Analyze UL fire-rated assembly requirements

This program is worth 1 HSW and lunch will be provided.
