Join Custom Building Products for their 7th Annual Beer & Learn!
This program explores the different types of waterproofing membranes, moisture barrier systems, anti-fracture membranes and sound underlayment technologies. The proper specification of waterproofing, anti-fracture, moisture barrier and sound attenuation membranes is essential to the success of a tile installation. We will review practical application, theories, and system integration for a successful installation. Different means and methods of installation over these materials will be illustrated through actual project. References to the changes in the 2011 TCNA Handbook in regards to the use of these systems will be referenced.
This program is worth 1 HSW and beer and appetizers will be served.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy presents 10 architects with a unique challenge: redesign Paris for the 21st century. This 50-minute film focuses on the response by Winy Maas, whose designs include the Netherland’s pavilion at the 2000 World’s Fair. After the screening, local architects pose the question: how would we redesign Kansas City for the 21st century?
The Museum is pleased to partner with AIA Kansas City for this program.

Participants will be better able to understand and apply the critical concepts of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code. These concepts provide a basis for the correct use of the code in the design, plan review, inspection, and analysis of projects. It will provide a clear understanding and correct use of the requirements identified by these basic code provisions, tables and categorizations. Participants will apply the code in clear-cut situations and build their understanding of the intent of the code when asked to make code compliance decisions.
Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be better able to:
• Locate general topics in the 2012 IECC.
• Locate applicable tables in the 2012 IECC for specific situations.
• Apply code requirements to real-world situations.
• Explain the intent behind a code requirement.
• Identify borderline scenarios as compliant or noncompliant.
• Identify essential code components for designing energy-efficient building thermal envelopes; energy-efficient mechanical design principles; and electrical power and lighting systems.

Join TED Systems for this informative program on security integration.
The integration of individual security systems is often thought to be expensive and benefits questioned. Comprehensive security strategies must take the strengths of individual security components to off-set the weaknesses of others. Systems must integrate to provide a timely assessment of alarm conditions so an immediate response by authorized agents can occur and occupants of buildings can take appropriate action. Integration of security systems can minimize the nuisance alarm, save organizations money and provide peace of mind to the end user. Topics discussed will include; what is system integration, ideal door hardware configurations, the false alarm, police response, internal and external threats, immediate assessment of alarm conditions and the benefits/cost savings of system integration.
This program is worth 1 HSW and lunch will be provided.
