The DBIA-MAR & the AIA Kansas City Chapters will host a discussion about recent changes in DBIA documents, including two recently approved forms for Teaming Agreement and Design Sub-consultant (approved in 2012), as well as Design-Build legislation passed in our Region in 2011 and bills pending this session. You will learn:
• How DBIA documents are drafted
• Highlights of the two New Forms
• What bills passed in 2011 (which ones failed)
• What bills are pending in 2012 on how Integrated Project

Presented By: Bill Quatman, DBIA, FAIA
Bill Quatman is a licensed architect and attorney who is General Counsel to Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co., Inc., an integrated Design-Build firm. He is an internationally recognized author and speaker on construction law and on design-build. In 2006, AIA National President Kate Schwensen, FAIA said, “A recognized authority on Design-Build, he has earned the reputation as the Institute’s Mr. Design-Build.” Bill has extensive experience in the area of State and Federal legislation for design-build and alternative project delivery and is past national chairman of DBIA’s Laws Committee, for which he was named DBIA’s Committee Chair of the Year (2003). He currently serves on DBIA’s Contract Documents Task Force and sits on the DBIA National Board of Directors.

In 2007, Bill was AIA’s National Chairman of the Design-Build Knowledge Community which had over 8,500 members. He has given presentations on Design-Build across the United States, in Canada, England and Puerto Rico. Mr. Quatman has taught courses on Design-Build at the University of Kansas and is the author of Design-Build for the Design Professional (Aspen Publishing 2001), as well as the chief editor of AIA’s book, The Architect’s Guide to Design-Build Services (Wiley 2003). He has been named annually to the prestigious Best Lawyers in America®, and in 2005 was named the AIA Missouri Architect of the Year.

Join WiD-KC on Wednesday, April 11th for a Happy Hour and our signature Historic Trolley Tour! The Happy Hour is Sponsored by Portfolio Kitchens and Home and will begin at 5:30. There will be two opportunities to board the Trolley, departing from Portfolio at 5:45 and 7:00.

This event will cost $20 per person and all proceeds will benefit WiD-KC’s Scholarship Fund. Please bring cash or check to pay at the door.
