The Carpenters District Council of Kansas City in association with the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) of Kansas city is pleased to announce the first Carpenter camp for young architects and design professionals in Kansas city. Young architects are encouraged to attend these hands on sessions. This session will be about concrete forming using plywood. Every session is 3 hrs and can be used as training units in the site observation category for your IDP.. More sessions will be announced in the near future. Take this opportunity to learn real life experience from professional carpenter instructors.

Because this is hands-on instruction, attendance will be limited to 15-20. Dress for hands on work.

Please wear either work boots or a leather shoe with a heavier sole than a tennis shoe. We will be doing some nailing and eventually some demo work

We are honored to announce Kevin Klinkenberg, will be the guest speaker. Kevin is Principal and Co-Founder of 180 Urban Design & Architecture and is currently the President of AIA/Kansas City. He is a Fellow with the Knight Program in Community Building through the University of Miami and a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) since 1997. With 16 years of professional experience, Klinkenberg has become a Midwestern authority on planning and urban design, sitting on committees for the Mid America Regional Council, the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City and the Housing Choices Coalition. Klinkenberg is also a faculty member for the Form-Based Codes Institute and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Architecture & Urban Design. He is a Registered Architect in Missouri, Nebraska and California.
