First Friday | UMKC’s 2010 Bud Prize for Design Excellence Projects
The University Museum projects designed by 2nd year students in their second semester will be on display at the AIA Kansas City, 1801 McGee at First Friday, 5 March @ 5:30pm. Come and check out the models first hand and mingle with the students who designed them. The project was for a museum that will house 10 contemporary pieces selected from the Kemper Art Museum and Nelson-Atkins Museum. The building is situated directly adjacent to Miller Nichols Library on the UMKC campus. A jury has determined the winner of the Bud Prize in a special review earlier in the week. Finalists from the competition will be on exhibit.

Edwin S. “Bud” Persons Scholarship
Edwin S. “Bud” Persons was a Senior Interior Architect wit Helix / Architecture + Design for seven years. As an accomplished interior designer in the industry for nearly 30 years. Bud loved designing corporate and residential interiors where his passion for color, details and unexpected combinations delighted his clients and made him an inspiration to other designers. Helix / Architecture + Design established the Edwin S. “Bud” Persons Award in 2004 to honor the magnetic personality, enthusiasm and many contributions Bud made to this industry. The funds intended to recognized the life and work of Bud Persons by promoting the study and knowledge of architecture and design through a scholarship grant awarded to students attending UMKC.
