AIA Kansas City: The American Institute of Architects

Nick Serfass, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards will present on a range of licensure topics relevant to students, interns, supervisors, architects and people in the architecture profession. The presentation will review the steps necessary to achieve licensure to become an Architect and other programs to get the most out of your career in architecture.

Topics will include:
 Background of NCARB
 The entities involved in the licensure process
 How to establish an NCARB Record
 How to progress successfully through the Intern Development Program (IDP)
 What to expect with the Architect Registration Examination (ARE)
 Recent changes to NCARB programs
 Value of the NCARB Certificate

He will remain on-site after the presentation to help address specific questions on an individual basis.

NICK SERFASS, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP Assistant Director, Intern Development Program, NCARB

Nick Serfass is the Assistant Director of the Intern Development Program at NCARB. In this position he helps support and guide the IDP as it continues to evolve with the architecture profession. Mr. Serfass previously held the position of Project Architect for a large firm in Virginia. During his time at this firm, Mr. Serfass helped lead an in-house IDP group, which was awarded the AIA/NCARB IDP Outstanding Firm of the Year distinction in 2007. His efforts focused on demystifying the IDP process and preparing new candidates for the ARE.

Mr. Serfass holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Miami. He is licensed to practice architecture in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of Florida. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, has achieved the qualification of LEED Accredited Professional, and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.
