The Kansas City Architectural Foundation is a charitable corporation (501(c)(3)) established in 1984 through the leadership of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Kansas City Chapter. The Kansas City Architectural Foundation educates individuals and communities about the power of architecture to transform lives and improve the places where we live, learn, work, and play. Through our outreach programs, grants, scholarships and educational resources, KCAF inspires people to become thoughtful and engaged stewards of the built environment. The Foundation administers the AIA Kansas City Scholarship Program, which has provided over fifty architectural scholarships since its initiation in 1992. The Foundation has also supported programs through the Linda Ervin Young Fund including projects by Center for Understanding the Built Environment (CUBE), the Kansas City Public Library, AIA Kansas City, and PS/1 School. Other ongoing efforts by KCAF include: Kansas City’s Legends – recognizing leaders in architecture, engineering, planning, community and civic achievements Public Presentations featuring major speakers in planning and/or architecture Shared programs with American Institute of Architects (AIA) Kansas City Chapter, Kansas City Design Center and Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Kansas City
