About this Event

"Kansas official resigns after uproar over 'master race' remarks." -- The New York Times

The comments made during a Board of County Commissioners Meeting in Kansas went viral. News outlets from across the country and around the world reported on, not only the words used, but also the event that triggered them and the people involved, including the consulting city planner. How should a planner, design, or engineer handle a viral event if it happens during his or her career? What should businesses and organizations do? Triveece Penelton, AICP, shares insights and tips after going through the experience. The session will focus on media treatment, coordination, branding, and advocacy in the age of social media, viral video, and clickbait.
