2011 DESIGN EXCELLENCE + ALLIED ARTS & CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS CALL FOR ENTRIES
The AIA Kansas City Design Excellence + Allied Arts & Craftsmanship Awards Program recognizes excellence in design and collaboration. In an effort to encourage and recognize design excellence in all project types, regardless of size, AIA Kansas City has asked our distinguished jury to establish the evaluation criteria and award categories.
Schedule
- Entry Forms and Fees due: No later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 (Complete submission requirements will be sent upon receipt of entry form and fees.)
- Submissions due: No later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2011
- Jury: November 10 & 11, 2011, Kansas City, Missouri
- Recipient Notification: at Awards Celebration
- Awards Celebration: Friday, November 11, 2011 at The Uptown Theater
Categories
Categories will be established at the discretion of the jury for Design Awards. Please indicate either Arts or Craftsmanship categories during registration.
Design Awards Eligibility
01 There are no time limitations for any submitted project. Work previously submitted without recognition may be considered. Work can be located anywhere.
02 Work must be submitted by the Architect of Record with an office in the greater Kansas City area or by an AIA Kansas City Chapter member or member firm with primary design responsibility for the project.
Allied Arts & Craftsmanship Eligibility
01 All projects completed since January 1, 2009, are eligible. Work can be located anywhere. Only one project per submission fee, with no limit on the number of submissions.
02 Work must be submitted by the Architect of Record with an office in the greater Kansas City area or by an AIA Kansas City Chapter member or member firm with primary design responsibility for the project.
Submission Process
Upon receipt of the completed electronic entry and full payment, entrants will be issued an entry number (1 per entry) and all coordinating paperwork via email. Entry forms and fees are due August 1, 2011 by 5:00p.m.
Submissions, including the Concealed Identification Form, Power Point Presentation, the Description Data Form and Publicity Images are to be uploaded to the FTP site no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2011.
Fees cannot be refunded for entries not submitted.
Publicity and Publication Release
Material submitted will be used by the AIA Kansas City Chapter for unrestricted publicity. Each entrant must ensure all elements of each submission are clear for reuse and reproduction. The Chapter will not assume responsibility for copyrights or photographic fees. A photograph of each winning entry will be used for unrestricted newspaper and magazine publicity.
Award Recipients
Celebrating the excellence of the winning submittals and the efforts of all award entries, award recipients will be announced during The AIA Kansas City Design Excellence + Allied Arts & Craftsmanship Awards Celebration on November 11, 2011. Jurors will be present to provide commentary on the award-winning projects.
