Blue Valley Support Services Center
The Support Services Center (SSC) is a new office building for a school district on their administrative campus. The building program accommodates four administrative departments, conference space, and the district’s central data center. To address these multiple functions, the spaces were organized to create a distinct and functional separation between a “private” administrative wing and an adjacent “public” wing comprised of conference and utility spaces. The double-height, glazed entry lobby that serves as a circulation spine and provides natural daylight into the adjacent interior spaces joins these narrow blocks, yet separates and clarifies their respective functions.
The building was located to maximize green space for future development and minimize the impact on this undisturbed site. The site design incorporates a stormwater detention system utilizing indigenous plantings, which not only accommodates the runoff from the SSC, but is also of sufficient capacity to absorb the projected runoff from the future building.
